Sherma Lewis

I am drawn to paintings that trigger memories or transport me to places I'd like to be. I tend to draw and paint things that I find beautiful, even if they are a rusty tool or weathered fence. When I paint, I go to a place where time is forgotten, and the worries of life are shelved. I love the joy and excitement I feel when I experiment with a new medium, tool or technique. My favorite old master artists include Vincent Van Gogh for his impressionistic style and inspiring quotes, such as, "Normality is a paved road: It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it." Andrew Wyeth's paintings draw me in, as well, because of their detailed realism and depictions of buildings, fields, people and animals. For me, his "Master Bedroom" has been a long-time favorite.
